The upcoming "2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival," scheduled for August, is building excitement through a citizen-participatory "Moment Capture SNS Event." Daejeon City plans to use this event to heighten public interest in the festival and accelerate pre-event promotions for a successful hosting.

Daejeon City is running the "Moment Capture SNS Event" for ten days, from May 26 to June 4. This event is part of a strategy to promote the 2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival, focusing on encouraging active citizen participation to raise anticipation. Utilizing SNS platforms, which are familiar to younger generations, is expected to maximize promotional effects.

Event Participation Method and Prizes

Participating in the event is simple. The core of the event involves an animated roulette-type image video posted on Daejeon City's official SNS channels (Facebook, Instagram). Participants must precisely capture the moment a "Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival"-related image appears in the video. Participation is completed by authenticating the captured image via the participation link specified in the event announcement post.

Daejeon City will randomly select 100 participants and provide beverage gifticons as prizes. Although the prizes are modest, they are expected to encourage enjoyable participation and foster a positive perception of the festival. Detailed participation instructions can be found in the event post on Daejeon City's official SNS channels.

Status of the 'Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival' and 2025 Hosting Plan

The Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival has established itself as a representative summer festival in Korea, transcending a mere regional event to embody Daejeon's diverse charms across culture, arts, science, and tourism. Under the slogan "Daejeon Anew, with 0 O'Clock Festival," it showcases innovative content spanning Daejeon's past, present, and future, drawing enthusiastic responses from visitors every year.

Jeon Il-hong, Director-General of Daejeon City's Culture, Arts, and Tourism Bureau, emphasized, "The Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival is a comprehensive festival where you can experience Daejeon's strengths such as transportation, bread, and science, along with Daejeon's representative characters, the 'Kkumssi Family,' all in one place." He urged citizens' active interest and participation in this SNS event. The Kkumssi Family are adorable characters symbolizing Daejeon as a fun city, and they will interact with citizens in various forms during the festival to enhance the fun. As such, the Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival offers more than just sights; it provides a platform for citizens to directly participate, enjoy, and experience Daejeon's identity.

The "2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival" will be held for nine days, from August 8 to 16, in the heart of Daejeon. The main stage of the festival will be the Jungang-ro section, approximately 1km long, from Daejeon Station to the former Chungnam Provincial Office. This section will be closed to vehicles during the festival period, transforming into a pedestrian-centered space for visitors to freely enjoy the festival. Diverse programs, exhibitions, and performances will also unfold around Jungang-ro and throughout the original downtown commercial area, adding to the festival's vibrancy.

Key Programs and Expected Effects of the Festival

Based on the successful hosting experience of last year, the 2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival is preparing even richer and more diverse programs. Key anticipated programs include: ▲ Time Travel Festival (experiences and exhibitions themed around past, present, and future), ▲ K-Culture Extravaganza (various genres of K-POP performances, street dance, traditional performances, etc.), ▲ Daejeon's Status as a Science City (media art integrating cutting-edge science and technology, experiential booths), and ▲ Fun Times with the Kkumssi Family (character parade, photo zones, character merchandise sales). Additionally, a bakery festival featuring Daejeon's representative food, bread, and a fleamarket to revitalize local commercial areas will also be operated, offering visitors abundant enjoyment.

Daejeon City aims to contribute to local economic revitalization and enhance Daejeon's city brand value through the 0 O'Clock Festival. Especially by holding the festival during the summer vacation season, it is expected to attract domestic and international tourists and inject vitality into local commercial areas. Furthermore, various citizen participation programs held during the festival will foster civic pride and cultivate a sense of community.

This "Moment Capture SNS Event" is the first step and a crucial promotional strategy for the successful hosting of the 2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival. Starting with this event, Daejeon City will carry out various online and offline promotional activities until the festival opens, making thorough preparations for the 2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival to once again stand tall as a representative summer festival of Korea amid enthusiastic citizen participation and interest.
