Chungnam Province's largest fire station, which will lead disaster response and realize a safe Chungnam, has opened its doors.
Chungnam Province Governor Kim Tae-heum attended the 'Dangjin Fire Station Administration Building Completion Ceremony' held on Yeokcheon-ro, Dangjin-si, on the 24th to celebrate its completion and encourage firefighting personnel.
Approximately 300 people, including Governor Kim, Dangjin Mayor Oh Seong-hwan, provincial and city council members, heads of related institutions and organizations, and the president of the Volunteer Firefighters Association, attended the event. The ceremony proceeded with celebratory performances, a progress report, commendations for meritorious individuals, an inspection tour, a tape-cutting ceremony, and a commemorative tree planting.
At the event, a total of three individuals, including civilians and public officials who contributed to the fire station's construction, received commendations from the provincial governor and the fire chief. The tape-cutting ceremony and tree planting commemorated the fire station's completion.
The newly constructed administration building is a single building with one basement level and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,382㎡. With this expansion, Dangjin Fire Station, including its three field buildings and one administration building, has become the largest fire station in the province.
The administration building houses offices, a civil service center, a fire safety experience classroom, meeting rooms, resting areas, an infection control room, and a machinery room.
Notably, the fire safety experience classroom is expected to greatly contribute to improving fire safety awareness in the province by operating eight programs, including fire suppression, evacuation, and earthquake experience.
At the ceremony, Governor Kim stated, "There's a saying, 'Clear command saves lives in a crisis.' The Dangjin Fire Station Administration Building will serve as a perfect control tower in disaster situations, supporting unified response and rescue efforts."
Governor Kim continued, emphasizing, "With the separate arrangement of the administration and field buildings and the concentrated deployment of personnel and equipment for dispatch, on-site response capabilities will be dramatically strengthened. 'Powerful Chungnam' will continue to build a more complete firefighting infrastructure to protect the lives and property of provincial residents."
Meanwhile, the province has increased firefighting personnel by 88% and firefighting equipment by over 36% in the past 10 years to strengthen its firefighting capabilities. This year, through the 3rd 5-Year Plan for Fire Station Reinforcement, the province has set a policy to invest 65.3 billion won over the next five years to improve 17 fire stations within the province.
