The 26th Samcheok Citizens' Running Festival will grandly commence at Samcheok Rose Park on June 6th, coinciding with Memorial Day. Hosted by Samcheok City and organized by the Samcheok Sports Council and Samcheok Athletics Federation, this annual event aims to promote citizens' health and harmony, making it a representative community sports event in Samcheok.

Event Overview and Participation Information

The festival will begin with participant registration at the Rose Park parking lot from 8:00 AM, followed by an opening ceremony at 9:30 AM, and the races will officially start at 10:00 AM. There are two courses: 5km and 10km. The 5km course is a loop starting and ending at Rose Park, running along Saecheonnyeon Road. The 10km course follows the same start as the 5km course, passing through Expo Town and Hujin Port before returning to Rose Park. Both courses are designed for participants to enjoy Samcheok's beautiful coastal scenery, promising a special experience.

Participation is open to Samcheok citizens, marathon enthusiasts from across the country, and the general public. Pre-registration was conducted through the Samcheok Sports Council website until May 27th, and on-site registration is also available. The participation fee is 10,000 won per person, and all participants will receive a commemorative gift (T-shirt), bib number, and snacks. Additionally, a medal and certificate of completion will be awarded upon finishing, and participants can also win generous prizes through a lottery.

Expecting Citizen Harmony and Health Promotion Through the Event

The Samcheok Citizens' Running Festival has established itself as a venue for citizens to gather and communicate, beyond just a sports event. It will be an opportunity for families, friends, and colleagues to relieve stress and improve their health by running together, as well as to create special memories while enjoying Samcheok's beautiful natural scenery.

Especially this year, as the event falls on Memorial Day, it will also carry the added meaning of honoring the noble sacrifices of patriots and fallen heroes through running. Participants will begin the race with a moment of silence, reflecting on the meaning of loving their country through healthy running.

Safety Management and Enhanced Facilities

The event organizers have made thorough preparations, prioritizing the safety of participants. Safety personnel will be stationed throughout the entire course, and medical booths will be operated to prepare for emergencies. Furthermore, sufficient water stations and snack distribution points will be provided to ensure participants can comfortably enjoy the race. Since parking space around Rose Park may be limited, public transportation is recommended, and if using a vehicle is unavoidable, participants are advised to use nearby public parking lots.

A Samcheok City official stated, "We hope this Citizens' Running Festival will be a time for citizens to laugh, enjoy, and experience health and happiness together," adding, "We will do our best until the end for the successful hosting of the event."

The Samcheok Citizens' Running Festival will continue to develop as a catalyst for citizens' healthy lives and an important event that brings vitality to the local community. We anticipate a successful event with the participation and interest of many citizens.
