The popular weekend getaway destination of Nodeul Island will come alive with the resounding rhythms of the '2025 Seoul Drum Festival' from May 10th to 11th. The festival boasts electrifying performances by world-renowned drummers such as Sonny Emory, Takashi Kashikura, and Mariana Baraj. A highlight not to be missed is the 'Seoul Marching 25,' a lively percussion parade featuring over 200 citizens. The diverse rhythms and high-energy performances are sure to offer a unique and captivating experience for all attendees.

Adding a touch of magic to the May nights, the 'Hangang Light Show (Drone Light Show)' will paint the night sky above Ttukseom Hangang Park on May 11th and 25th. An impressive fleet of 1,200 drones will create a breathtaking spectacle of light and choreography. This mesmerizing show is free for everyone to enjoy without prior reservation, and pre- and post-show cultural performances will further enrich the experience.

Cultural Picnic in the City Center: 'Culture Flows in Seoul Plaza'

The iconic Seoul Plaza, located in the city's core, will host a delightful series of performances titled 'Culture Flows in Seoul Plaza' every Wednesday and Sunday. Starting on May 11th with an animation and musical gala performance by 'The March Company,' the program will feature a variety of genres, including magic shows, brass bands, and children's musicals, promising to delight audiences of all ages. These urban cultural interludes will inject vitality into city life and offer moments of joy in the everyday.

Special Family Experiences: Harry Potter in Concert and Neighborhood Concerts

Grand-scale performances offering special memories for the whole family are also on the agenda. The Sejong Center for the Performing Arts will present 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince™ in Concert' from May 16th to 18th. The full orchestra will perform the film's majestic soundtrack live while the movie plays on a giant screen, creating an immersive and unforgettable experience for the audience.

In an effort to broaden access to classical music, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra will present its 'Neighborhood Concert' series, bringing classical performances directly to local cultural arts centers in Gangbuk, Seocho, Geumcheon, and Dongjak districts. These free concerts, requiring advance registration, will provide a valuable cultural experience for residents who may not typically have the opportunity to attend classical performances.

Seoul in Full Bloom with Art: Art Spring and Seoul Children's Garden Festival

The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture's 'Art Spring' event will take place on May 24th at the Four Seasons Garden in Seoul Children's Grand Park. Featuring a diverse array of performances and interactive programs by citizen artists, along with a unique handmade crafts market, this festival promises to be an engaging and enjoyable experience for people of all ages.

The same location will also host the '2025 Seoul Children's Garden Festival' until May 18th, offering children a special opportunity to connect with nature and art. The various hands-on activities and educational programs within the beautiful garden setting will nurture children's creativity and imagination while fostering an appreciation for the natural world.

A World of Culture in the Heart of Seoul: 2025 Seoul Friendship Festival

From May 24th to 25th, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) will transform into a global village for the '2025 Seoul Friendship Festival,' with participation from 68 countries. Offering experiences such as traditional costume try-ons, Italian circus performances, New Zealand Maori performances, and a tantalizing array of international cuisine, the festival will provide a unique opportunity to embark on a global journey without leaving Seoul. The diverse cultural performances and interactive programs aim to provide entertainment and enhance understanding of cultural diversity.

The City as a Gallery: Seoul Sculpture Festival and Seoul International Garden Show

Seoul's urban landscape will transform into a vast exhibition space with two noteworthy festivals. The 'Seoul Sculpture Festival' will showcase a diverse collection of contemporary sculptures at Songpa Baekje Cultural Park starting on May 23rd. Meanwhile, the 'Seoul International Garden Show,' commencing on May 22nd at Boramae Park, will present 111 stunning gardens over a 150-day period, offering citizens ample opportunities for relaxation and cultural enrichment. The extended duration of the International Garden Show is expected to allow many to leisurely enjoy the beautiful displays.

Harmony of Nature and Art: Art Blooms in Enchanting Gardens and Romantic Hydrangea Exhibition

Jungnang Camping Forest will host 'Art Blooms in Enchanting Gardens' on May 24th, a unique event blending Pansori (Korean opera), magic theater, and art workshops amidst the natural beauty of the forest. From June to July, the Seoul Botanic Garden will showcase the 'Romantic Hydrangea Exhibition,' inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a breathtaking display of colorful hydrangeas. Additionally, the Seoul Museum of Craft Art is currently hosting a special exhibition, 'With Sincere Wishes,' until July, highlighting the exquisite beauty of Buddhist embroidery.

Seoul After Dark: Nighttime Library and Traditional Performances

Seoul's charm extends into the night with a variety of evening programs. The Cheonggyecheon Stream, Gwanghwamun Square, and Seoul Plaza will operate 'Nighttime Libraries,' offering a refreshing ambiance for reading under the stars. Gwanghwamun History Plaza will feature demonstrations of traditional Korean martial arts, showcasing the beauty of Korean heritage. At the Namsan Hanok Village, dynamic Taekwondo performances will provide a captivating spectacle for both international tourists and local residents.

Special Picnic for Pets and Their Owners: Crafting Fun for Furry Friends

A special program for pet owners will take place on May 17th at the Seoul Museum of Craft Art. The 'Crafting Fun for Furry Friends' picnic will offer a unique opportunity for owners to create beautiful crafts alongside their beloved canine companions, promising an unforgettable experience blending culture and companionship.

Grand Finale: Slow Slow Hangang 3-athlon Festival

Concluding the month's festivities, the 'Slow Slow Hangang 3-athlon Festival' will take place from May 30th to June 1st at Ttukseom Hangang Park. Featuring swimming, cycling, and running races with beginner and advanced courses, this event encourages participation at all fitness levels, allowing everyone to join in the fun.

Throughout May, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) will also host the 'DDP Spring Festival,' a fantastic design-themed park. Additionally, the 'Culture Night Out (Yageum)' program will offer a variety of cultural experiences at eight museums and art galleries every Friday night.
