Incheon City and Incheon Tourism Organization are recruiting the ‘Incheon 9 Scenic Spots DIY (Do Incheon Yourself) Experience Group’ to allow participants to discover and experience Incheon's diverse charms firsthand. This groundbreaking program offers a ₩20,000 experience fee to participants who plan their own travel courses and complete missions, and it's expected to significantly contribute to boosting Incheon tourism.

Tailored Travel Experiences

Designed around Incheon's nine representative tourist destinations, this experience group aims to enable customized travel reflecting the individual tastes and interests of participants, focusing on discovering hidden gems and creating new experiences in Incheon. Notably, it seeks to double the enjoyment of travel by encouraging active participation rather than simply providing information.

The experience courses consist of three types: Core Missions, Optional Courses, and Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Courses. Core Missions are essential activities that highlight the unique characteristics of each region, requiring participants to take certification photos at designated locations or complete specific experiences. For example, for the Wolmido course, "certification of riding the Wolmi Sea Train" is a mandatory mission. Optional Courses provide flexibility, allowing participants to freely choose 1-2 activities from recommended options, while DIY Courses enable participants to freely plan their desired locations or activities, completing a truly "personalized trip." This multi-layered course structure provides participants with a wide range of choices, allowing for in-depth experiences beyond simple sightseeing.

Recruitment Details

A total of 1,000 participants will be recruited over three rounds. The 1st recruitment round targets 500 people from July 23rd to August 12th. The 2nd recruitment round will select 250 people from August 20th to September 9th, and the 3rd recruitment round will select 250 people from September 17th to October 2nd. Those wishing to participate can apply through the official ‘Incheon 9 Scenic Spots’ micro-page (www.incheon9gyeong.kr).

Discovering Incheon's Charms: The "Incheon 9 Scenic Spots"

The core of this program, the 'Incheon 9 Scenic Spots,' consists of diverse attractions encompassing Incheon's history, culture, nature, and future. The main courses are as follows:

Time Travel to the Past: 1883 Incheon Open Port: Explore the Open Port area, where modern architecture and cultural heritage are preserved, to feel the historical atmosphere. It offers various attractions linked with Chinatown, Songwol-dong Fairytale Village, and more.
Enjoy Romantic Wolmido by Riding the Wolmi Sea Train: Ride the Wolmi Sea Train, Korea's longest urban monorail, to admire the beautiful coastal scenery of Wolmido and encounter various attractions like Wolmi Theme Park and the Musical Fountain.
Enjoy Ecological Nature at Soraepogu, a Port in the City Center: This place offers a vibrant fish market and the beauty of the tidal flat ecosystem simultaneously. You can enjoy fresh seafood and explore the Wetland Ecological Park.
Admire the Street of Light at Gyeyang Araon, a Night View Hotspot: Gyeyang Araon, offering a panoramic view of the Ara Waterway's nightscape, creates a romantic atmosphere with beautiful lighting and is linked with nearby attractions like the Aramaru Observatory.
Stroll Through a Future City at Songdo Central Park: Known as Korea's Manhattan, Songdo International City's symbolic Central Park is an oasis in the city center. You can enjoy various leisure activities like water taxis and canoeing while appreciating the harmony of modern architecture and nature.
Ride a Rail Bike Along the Coast at Yeongjong Seaside Park: Rail bikes running coolly along the West Sea are especially popular with families and couples. It also features various amenities such as campsites and salt farm experience centers.
Walk and Explore the Old Downtown of Ganghwa-eup: This historical exploration course follows the footsteps of the past by walking through the old downtown of Ganghwa-eup, where historical sites like the UNESCO World Heritage Ganghwa Dolmen Sites, Goryeogungji Palace Site, and Yongheunggung Palace are concentrated.
Tour Incheon's Three Brother Islands (Sindo, Sido, Modo): Visit Sindo, Sido, and Modo, connected by a bridge, to experience the unique charm of each island. This course offers healing amidst beautiful beaches and natural landscapes.
Meet Natural Monument Spotted Seals at Baengnyeongdo, Korea's Northernmost Island: Located at the northernmost point of the West Sea, Baengnyeongdo boasts Dumujin, with high geological value, and the world's only Kongdol Beach (Pebble Beach), offering a special opportunity to observe natural monument spotted seals.

This ‘Incheon 9 Scenic Spots DIY Experience Group’ is expected to not only provide a ₩20,000 experience fee but also to promote Incheon's diverse charms to citizens and maximize the continuous development and promotional effects of Incheon tourism by having visitors directly produce travel content. Attention is focused on whether participants' novel ideas and experiences will contribute to discovering new tourism resources.
