Recommended 5 Spots Ranging from Urban Parks to Natural Recreation Forests

The City of Daejeon recommends five representative autumn outing spots in the region where residents and visitors can enjoy the deepening charm of autumn alongside colorful foliage as November arrives.

In the Daejeon area, foliage reaches its peak from late October to early November, painting parks and forests throughout the city in a rich tapestry of autumn hues. The city suggests relaxing autumn outings centered around walking spots where people can closely enjoy beautiful late-autumn scenery.

▲ Jangtaesan Natural Recreation Forest – Autumn Encountered in the Red Metasequoia Forest

The first recommended spot is Jangtaesan Natural Recreation Forest in Jangan-dong, Seo-gu. Here, towering metasequoia trees turn shades of red in autumn, offering an exotic landscape. Climbing up to the forest's Skyway and suspension bridge allows visitors to appreciate the autumn scenery created by the dense forest from a unique perspective. In particular, the metasequoia forest in late autumn is a representative photo spot where visitors can experience a distinctive charm.

▲ Bomunsan Mountain – An Autumn Hiking Trip Full of Autumn Charm

Located in Daesa-dong, Jung-gu, Bomunsan Mountain is a place where visitors can enjoy both autumn hiking and foliage walks close to the city center. Colorful foliage lines the forest paths, allowing people to feel the deepening charm of autumn. With various courses ranging from gentle walking paths to hiking trails offering open panoramic views, visitors can choose between a stroll or a hike depending on their stamina and preferences, making it an ideal choice for a light outing.

▲ Gyeryongsan Mountain – A Healing Forest Trail Walk Amidst Foliage

Located in Jang-dong, Daedeok-gu, Gyeryongsan Mountain is a representative forest tourism attraction where visitors can simultaneously enjoy autumn foliage and the pleasure of walking along forest trails. When the foliage colors the area around the approximately 14-kilometer-long red clay path, the brightly colored forest harmonizes with the reddish-brown trail to create Gyeryongsan Mountain’s unique autumn scenery. Breathing in the fresh air and walking along the forest path helps visitors relieve daily fatigue and spend a relaxing time. Even without walking the entire section, visitors can easily enjoy a light forest walk near the Jangdong Forest Recreation Area.

▲ Hanbat Arboretum – A Feast of Autumn Colors Unfolding in the Heart of the City

Located in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Hanbat Arboretum is a representative urban spot where visitors can appreciate diverse autumn landscapes without traveling far. The maple and ginkgo trees throughout the arboretum are tinted with autumn colors, harmonizing with various trees and well-maintained walking paths to let visitors closely experience the changing seasons. Located in the city center with excellent accessibility, it is a great place to enjoy a relaxing autumn walk with family while exploring various spaces such as the wetland garden.

▲ Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park – A Relaxing Autumn Stroll Along the Lake

Spanning across Seo-gu and Yuseong-gu, Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park is a new urban outing spot where visitors can enjoy open lake scenery and the ambiance of autumn together. The walking trails winding along the lake allow people to appreciate the surrounding scenery changing with the seasons, while the sky and trees reflected on the water surface provide a unique spectacle. It is also a great place to take a leisurely stroll while gazing at the wide lake or relax with family.

Beyond these, people can feel the deepening autumn at parks scattered throughout Daejeon without having to travel far. However, since the peak timing and progression of foliage vary depending on tree species and weather conditions, it is a good idea to check local conditions before visiting.

A Daejeon City official stated, "November is the time when Daejeon's forests and parks are dyed in colorful autumn hues," adding, "We hope citizens will appreciate the beautiful natural scenery in nearby parks and forests and create precious autumn memories with their families, loved ones, and friends."
