The Chungbuk Culture Foundation (CEO Kim Kyung-sik) is hosting Oh Eun-joo's solo exhibition, 《Dosi(圖示)hada – Giseon(視線)》, as part of its artist support exhibition program for the second half of 2026. The exhibition will take place from Wednesday, November 11 to Monday, November 23, 2026, at the Chungbuk Gallery Seoul Branch (located on the 2nd floor of the Insa Art Center in Seoul).
Artist Oh Eun-joo has consistently expressed the iconic images of apartments and urban buildings as her primary plastic language. The exhibition title, "Dosi(圖示)hada," carries a dual meaning: "drawing a city (都市)" and "illustrating/showing through a picture (圖示)." Based on her exploration of the aesthetics of traditional Korean lines, the artist presents around 30 new and representative works that expand her artistic world through expressions of lines, forms, and colors that constitute urban landscapes.

Despite changes in various materials, the artist focuses on her core plastic language: the "line." Examining the stylistic evolution of her major works, the natural lines found in early Korean gardens lead to the lines of urban apartments and Tetris icons, ultimately converging into woven vertical and horizontal lines and grids.
Her works are composed of rectangular geometric structures, vertical and horizontal lines, and the repetition and variation of colors. The pictorial structures, which shift depending on the composition and arrangement of these plastic elements, offer a glimpse into the artist's diverse formal experiments. In particular, works focusing on the visual similarities between urban buildings and Tetris game imagery playfully reconstruct familiar urban landscapes, adding to the viewer's enjoyment.

Meanwhile, in her artist's statement, Oh reveals that the environmental conditions and discourses of the contemporary era—such as human anxiety and depression following the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, international conflicts and wars, and the loss of humanity—have deeply influenced her work. Through urban imagery, she projects modern people's lives, thoughts, inner worlds, capitalist desires, and dreams.
Art critic Lee Sun-young noted, "A grid structure, which is a common element of the apartment code, is omnipresent in Oh Eun-joo's works." She added, "Through the urban landscapes reconstructed in various plastic languages in this exhibition, the artist allows us to reflect from multiple angles on the lives and desires of modern people embedded within them."

Oh Eun-joo graduated from Cheongju National University of Education and earned her Master's degree in Art Education from the Graduate School of Korea National University of Education. She has held a total of eight solo exhibitions and participated in numerous art fairs and group exhibitions. Currently, she serves as the director of Gallery Cafe Dojong in Jincheon and continues her steady creative activities in the Chungbuk regional art scene through various art organizations, including the Korean Fine Arts Association and the Jincheon Fine Arts Association.
The exhibition is open free of charge from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and is closed every Tuesday. For more information, please visit the Chungbuk Culture Foundation website (www.cbartgallery.com) or contact the Cultural and Arts Complex Operation Division (☏043-299-9389).
