This suggests that she is emerging not just as the spouse of Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance, but as an individual with independent influence.

On June 2 (local time), Usha Vance attended the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum in Washington D.C. as a speaker. She shared personal anecdotes about her husband, J.D. Vance, and expressed her intention to focus on public service activities aimed at improving children's literacy. Notably, regarding her meeting with her husband, she revealed her academic passion, stating, "If J.D. hit the gas pedal in our courtship, I hit the brakes."

Born in 1986 into a middle-class immigrant family in San Diego, USA, Usha Vance demonstrated exceptional academic talent. She graduated Yale University with the highest honors in history and earned her master's degree from Cambridge University in the UK as a 'Gates Cambridge' scholar, sponsored by Bill Gates. She later met J.D. Vance while attending Yale Law School and married him in July 2014. They currently have three children, aged 8, 5, and 4.

Usha's intellectual yet calm personality is widely seen as complementing her hot-headed husband's temperament. An acquaintance of the Vance couple reportedly asserted to the NYT, "Without her, J.D. would not have become vice president." A Hindu, Usha actively supported her husband's conversion from Protestantism to Catholicism. Vance stated, "Usha told me that the process of becoming a Catholic would be good for my soul," highlighting her deep understanding.

When her husband was nominated as Donald Trump's running mate in July last year, Usha Vance immediately resigned from her law firm, fully supporting his political endeavors. The sight of the Vance couple boarding Air Force Two at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Rome, Italy, on May 19, the day after Pope Leo XIV's inauguration ceremony at the Vatican, demonstrates their active participation in major U.S. political events.

When asked on June 25 during an appearance on broadcaster Meghan McCain's YouTube channel if she had ever considered becoming First Lady in a few years, Usha Vance replied, "I'm not planning the next step. I'm just enjoying this journey. Someday I want to return home and continue my career."
