Kim, 37, who debuted in the V-League in the 2005-2006 season, has been recognized for her contributions to the league's popularity after returning to Korea following stints in foreign leagues. KOVO officials said they are considering awarding her a special prize in recognition of her contributions to the development and popularity of volleyball. The name of the special award has not yet been determined.
Kim's career highlights include leading the South Korean national team to a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and being named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. She has also played for various professional teams in Korea and overseas, including stints in Turkey, China, and France.
