SEJONG — The Sejong Metropolitan Self-Governing City government announced that it will host the "Draw & Sound Hangul" festival on the 7th at the commercial district of Hansol-dong Hangul Culture Street.

Co-organized with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small Enterprise and Market Service, this event marks the grand finale of the Hansol-dong Culture and Tourism-type Market Promotion Project. The festival is designed as a cultural celebration where local citizens and merchants can come together through the medium of the Korean alphabet, Hangul.

Highlights of the Festival

Children’s Art Competition ("Draw Hangul"): Elementary school students will capture the vibrant scenery of the street under the theme "The Hangul Culture Street I Envision." Outstanding works will be honored with prestigious awards from six local institutions, including the Mayor of Sejong, the Chairman of the Sejong City Council, and the Superintendent of Sejong City Education.
Registration Extended: To encourage greater participation, the city extended the application deadline from November 4th until 12:00 PM on the 7th. Children can register online via this link or sign up on-site on the day of the event.
Interactive Experiences & Evening Concert: Starting at 6:00 PM, visitors can enjoy hands-on programs such as making Hangul keyrings and beaded bracelets. Following the art competition awards ceremony at 6:40 PM, the "Sound Hangul Concert" will feature performances by popular artists including singers Yong-ho and Miss Kim, lighting up the autumn night.
Receipt Promotion Event: A special receipt event will run concurrently to stimulate local commerce, connecting festival enjoyment directly with support for neighborhood merchants.

Sejong Mayor Cho Sang-ho stated, "We have cultivated the unique charm of Hangul Culture Street by blending our distinct linguistic heritage with culture and entertainment. We hope this event allows everyone to rediscover the charm of the street and serves as a stepping stone toward a vibrant commercial district that citizens love to visit."
