SEJONG — Sejong Special Self-Governing City (Mayor Cho Sang-ho) announced on the 22nd that it hosted a healing program for 28 civil service workers from city hall and regional administrative offices (Eup, Myeon, and Dong) at the Healing Forest in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province.
This program was designed to alleviate stress accumulated by employees during frontline tasks, such as responding to difficult civil complaints, and to foster a healthy workplace atmosphere through emotional recovery.
Participants engaged in a variety of forest therapy activities—including ball yoga, hinoki wood stick gymnastics, and balance therapy—alongside aqua therapy utilizing foot baths and dry half-body baths, as well as singing bowl meditation to release physical and mental tension.
This was followed by a "communication session," where staff shared their experiences and hardships in handling civil complaints, building strong empathy and mutual support.
Ko Sung-jin, Director-General of the Citizens' Safety Office, stated, "I hope this served as a time for our civil complaint staff, who work closest to the citizens, to recover their exhausted minds amidst nature. We will continue to implement policies to protect and support our employees so we can deliver satisfying civil services to the public."
Meanwhile, in accordance with the "Civil Petitions Treatment Act" and the "Sejong Special Self-Governing City Ordinance on the Protection and Support of Civil Service Officers," the city operates these healing programs annually to prevent and treat psychological damage among civil complaint workers.
