- "Love Firewood Sharing" event scheduled for November 10; advance applications open until October 30

SEJONG — Ahead of the upcoming winter season, Sejong Special Self-Governing City (Mayor Cho Sang-ho) is teaming up with the Sejong City Forestry Cooperative (Chairman An Jong-su) to host the "Love Firewood Sharing" event on November 10 to assist vulnerable neighbors in need.

Through this year’s forest tending projects, the city and the cooperative have collected approximately 100 tons of wood byproducts. These will be prioritized as firewood for low-income and vulnerable residents, including elderly people living alone and basic livelihood security recipients. Any remaining supply will then be distributed to the general public.

Advance applications for the firewood distribution can be submitted at local eup and myeon administrative welfare centers until October 30.

The main distribution event will take place on November 10 along the forest road located at San 26-1, Dabang-ri, Jeonui-myeon.

"We have been holding the Love Firewood Sharing event every year since 2017 to provide a little help with heating cost reductions for neighbors facing economic hardships," said Lee Yong-woo, Head of the Forest Resources Division. "We encourage anyone in need of firewood to check the application period and make sure to apply."
