The Daejeon Fire Department announced on the 27th that it successfully hosted the '26th Daejeon 119 Fire Song Contest,' where children conveyed the importance of fire prevention through children's songs and enhanced safety awareness.

This year's contest, marking its 26th anniversary, saw approximately 300 children from 14 kindergarten and elementary school teams in the Daejeon area engage in a spirited competition.

Notably, teams that creatively re-wrote and arranged general children's songs in addition to the existing 135 official fire safety songs drew attention, adding freshness and diversity to the competition.

As a result of the competition, CanKids Daycare Center won the grand prize in the kindergarten division for their moving performance of 'My Dream is a Firefighter' with expressive movements, while Daejeon Jijeok Elementary School won the grand prize in the elementary school division for their witty lyrics and excellent singing ability with the song '119 Love Method.'

The winning teams were awarded the Daejeon Mayor's Award, the Daejeon Superintendent of Education Award, along with souvenirs, and also earned the right to participate in the National 119 Fire Song Contest to be held in Changwon, Gyeongnam in September.

Ahn Jeong-mi, head of the Prevention and Safety Division at the Daejeon Fire Department, stated, "It was a meaningful event where children naturally learned the importance of fire prevention through children's songs." She added, "We hope that interest in safety will spread to homes as well, and we will continue to do our best to establish a fire safety culture."
