LOS ANGELES, CA — LAFC forward Son Heung-min has secured his place on the Major League Soccer (MLS) Matchday 37 Team of the Matchday, following a standout performance that saw him register his fourth consecutive match with a goal and propel Los Angeles FC to a dominant 3-0 away victory over St. Louis City SC.

The 33-year-old South Korean international was named one of the three forwards in the league’s weekly Best XI, announced Monday by the MLS office. This selection marks the fourth time Son has been recognized in the Team of the Matchday since his much-anticipated arrival at LAFC earlier this season, underscoring the immediate and profound impact he has had on the American league. His consistent excellence was previously acknowledged after Matchdays 29, 30, and 35.

Clinical Brace in St. Louis

Son’s latest heroics came on Saturday night against St. Louis City SC, where his brace proved the decisive factor in LAFC's commanding win. The two goals contributed directly to the Black & Gold’s ongoing resurgence, which now sees them riding a four-game winning streak.

The MLS praised the former Tottenham Hotspur star’s continuing "torrid start" to his debut MLS campaign. His clinical finishing against St. Louis pushed his tally to an astonishing eight goals in just eight appearances since his debut, instantly establishing him as one of the league’s most potent attackers. Furthermore, the two-goal haul confirmed he has already achieved double-digit goal contributions—a significant milestone reached rapidly in his first season.

Son’s exceptional form, coupled with the continued brilliance of teammates like Denis Bouanga, has transformed LAFC into one of the most formidable offensive units in the league. His seamless integration into the 3-4-3 formation, typically occupying one of the wide forward positions, allows him to leverage his world-class pace and precise shooting.

As the MLS season enters its final phase, Son Heung-min’s prolific output and ability to deliver in crucial moments are positioning LAFC as serious contenders for the MLS Cup Playoffs. His consecutive Matchday honors are not simply personal accolades but a clear indicator of the rising momentum and elite form that the Los Angeles club will carry into the postseason. The anticipation now builds for how many records the South Korean superstar will rewrite before his remarkable debut MLS season concludes.
