SEOUL, South Korea – Golfer Sung Yu-jin has emphatically secured her place among the elite of the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, being crowned the "Major Queen" following her dramatic victory at the Hite Jinro Championship. The win, her fourth career title and first major, has significantly rearranged the season standings, catapulting her into the top echelon of both the Wemade Grand Prize and WEMIX Point rankings.
The final major of the 2025 season concluded on September 28th, with Sung clinching the title after an intense four-hole sudden-death playoff against competitor Noh Seung-hee. Both players finished the four rounds at 10-under par 278 at Blue Mountain Country Club. Sung's resilience and clutch performance under pressure were on full display, ultimately earning her the coveted major trophy.
The victory delivered a substantial 100 Wemade Grand Prize points, immediately boosting her standing from 15th to 9th place on the season-long leaderboard. Even more impactful was her haul in the specialized WEMIX Point ranking, where a gain of 700 points saw her surge seven positions to 8th. This ascent all but guarantees her a spot in the season-ending WEMIX Championship.
Sung’s qualification for the WEMIX Championship marks a notable return, as she last competed in the event in 2023 after finishing 10th in the WEMIX Points. Now, with renewed momentum and a major trophy in hand, she has openly declared her ambition to surpass her previous best finish of third place in the season finale.
The battle for the top spots remains fierce as the season draws to a close. Yoo Hyun-jo currently maintains the lead in both the Wemade Grand Prize and WEMIX Point rankings. Noh Seung-hee is positioned second in both lists, while Bang Shin-sil (3rd) and Hong Jung-min (4th) hold strong positions in the Wemade Grand Prize points. Hong also sits third in the WEMIX Points, highlighting the tight competition at the pinnacle of the KLPGA Tour.
The Race to the WEMIX Championship is a comprehensive points system combining tournament finishes and Wemade Grand Prize points. Its primary function is to determine the final rankings, with the top 24 players earning the prestigious invitation to the championship. This year’s WEMIX Championship is scheduled for November 15th and 16th at the Mauna Ocean Country Club in Gyeongju. Sung Yu-jin’s late-season surge has positioned her as a formidable contender for the overall season title.
