Manchester, England – Manchester City has secured the future of their star striker, Erling Haaland, with a historic 10-year contract extension. The Norwegian goal machine will remain at the Etihad Stadium until 2034, making it the longest contract in Premier League history.
Since joining City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, Haaland has taken the league by storm. He played a pivotal role in the club’s historic treble last season, scoring 52 goals across all competitions. His 36 Premier League goals set a new single-season record.
In recognition of his outstanding performances, Haaland has won numerous individual accolades, including the PFA Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, and the Premier League Young Player of the Year.
Speaking on his new deal, Haaland expressed his delight, saying, “I’m really happy to have signed a new contract. I’m looking forward to spending many more years here at this great club. Manchester City is a special place with fantastic people and amazing fans. It’s the perfect environment for any player to develop their potential.”
Haaland also thanked his manager, Pep Guardiola, and his teammates for their support. “I want to thank Pep and his coaching staff, my teammates, and everyone at the club,” he said. “They have all helped me so much over the past few years.”
Guardiola was equally thrilled with the news, stating, “This shows how much Manchester City believes in Erling. The club knows exactly how professional and dedicated he is.”
With his exceptional goal-scoring record, Haaland is on track to break Alan Shearer's all-time Premier League goalscoring record. According to Opta, if he maintains his current scoring rate, Haaland could surpass Shearer's tally of 260 goals.
This long-term commitment from both Haaland and City is a clear statement of intent. As the club continues to dominate English and European football, Haaland will be at the heart of their ambitions for many years to come.
