Gyeongsangbuk-do held the "2026 Green Bio Industry International Conference" for two days from Wednesday, September 2 to Thursday, September 3 at Ground Pohang in Pohang City.

This conference was arranged for domestic and international green bio experts to gather in one place, share the latest technologies and industry trends of the green bio industry, and explore ways for international cooperation and market entry.

Starting with the opening ceremony and a keynote speech by Lee Seung-gyu, Vice Chairman of the Korea Bio Association, a total of three sessions followed: ▲ Technology cooperation between POSTEX and Kyungpook National University College of Veterinary Medicine, ▲ Korea-Lithuania international cooperation, and ▲ Export cooperation for entry of veterinary drugs into overseas markets.

In each session, participants broadly discussed R&D and industrialization of green bio technology, technology exchange and cooperation measures for overseas market entry of veterinary drugs, and the establishment of cooperative relationships to expand exports for domestic companies.

At the event, a business agreement was signed involving four institutions: RatBio Co., Ltd., GrassMedi Co., Ltd., Pohang Technopark, and LSMU (Lithuanian University of Health Sciences) of Lithuania, aimed at entering the European market for veterinary drugs. Following the agreement, international cooperation is expected to expand, starting with personnel and technology exchanges, and extending to clinical trials, licensing, and overseas sales channel development.

Gyeongsangbuk-do and Pohang City are making the plant vaccine-based veterinary drug sector a major growth axis of the green bio industry, expanding related facilities and corporate support.

In Pohang, infrastructure for research and technology development and corporate support has been established, including the Green Vaccine Demonstration Support Center. Through the green biologics commercialization support facility, advanced analysis system, and green bio venture campus, the region plans to support corporate growth from technology development to productization, commercialization, and venture startups.

With Gyeongbuk being designated as a "Green Bio Promotion District" in December of last year, it has further strengthened the foundation to link regional research and technological capabilities with industrial resources, and support the growth and industrialization of green bio companies.

Yang Geum-hee, Economic Vice Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, said, "In the green bio industry, it is most important to connect excellent technology with actual products and markets," adding, "We will actively support expanding cooperation between domestic and international experts and companies, and linking Gyeongbuk's strengths with corporate demand so that it can leap forward as a global hub leading the green bio industry."
