CES 2026: The World's Largest Stage for Innovation (C) Eidetic Marketing
LAS VEGAS — South Korea is set to make its most significant impact yet at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026. Under a unified "One-Team Korea" banner, the South Korean government and private sector are joining forces to showcase the nation’s technological prowess on the world’s largest stage for consumer technology and innovation.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) announced on January 1 that a record-breaking 470 companies will participate through the Integrated Korea Pavilion. This initiative, a collaborative effort involving 38 different organizations and agencies, represents nearly half of the approximately 1,000 South Korean firms attending the event.
The AI Frontier and Diverse Innovation
Reflecting the event's theme, "Innovators Show Up," Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands at the forefront of the Korean exhibit, accounting for 21% of the pavilion’s showcased technologies. Other key sectors include:
Digital Health: 16%
Smart City & Smart Home: 11%
Sustainability & Energy: 10%
Mobility: 9%
By unifying booth designs and logos, the government aims to enhance the "Korea Premium" brand, strengthening the collective marketing impact for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) alongside industry giants like Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Group, and SK Group.
Dominance in Innovation Awards
The technological leadership of South Korea was already evident prior to the show’s opening. According to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), Korean companies accounted for 168 of the 284 awardees (approximately 60%) in the first round of the CES Innovation Awards.
Notably, SMEs represented over 80% (137 companies) of the domestic winners. In the highly competitive AI category, South Korean firms swept all three Best of Innovation Awards, securing a total of 28 innovation accolades in that sector alone.
Strategic Global Networking
To translate technological excellence into tangible export growth, the government has scheduled high-level business networking events. These include seminars with local experts, technology demonstrations, and the "K-Innovation Pitching Challenge," designed to connect Korean startups with global leaders such as Walmart and Intel.
"In an era of intensifying competition for AI hegemony, CES serves as a vital arena to demonstrate the limitless potential of Korean technology," stated Kim Jung-kwan, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Echoing this sentiment, Han Seong-sook, Minister of SMEs and Startups, added, "The government will continue to provide unwavering support to ensure our innovative companies can use CES as a springboard for global expansion."
CES 2026 is scheduled to run from January 6 to 9 in Las Vegas.
