Gwangju, South Korea – The KIA Tigers, the 2024 Korean Series champions, will celebrate their victory with a grand parade through the streets of Gwangju on November 30th. The parade, the first of its kind for the team in 35 years, is a token of gratitude to the passionate fans who have supported the team throughout the season.

The parade will commence at 2 PM, starting from Gwangju's Geumnamno 5-ga Station and will culminate at 5.18 Democratic Square, covering a distance of 1.2 kilometers. Along the route, the players will ride in open-top buses, allowing them to interact with fans and express their gratitude for the unwavering support.

Upon reaching 5.18 Democratic Square, a celebratory event will be held featuring speeches from manager Lee Beom-ho and Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jung. Subsequently, the team will move to the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center for a fan festival.

To ensure the safety of the parade, police vehicles will lead and follow the procession. The event will also feature the Gwangju 31st Infantry Division band and traditional folk music performers to enhance the festive atmosphere. Additional safety measures will be implemented, including the deployment of security personnel in crowded areas.

A Nostalgic Return

The last time the KIA Tigers held a championship parade was in 1989, following their fifth Korean Series victory as the Haitai Tigers. The return of this tradition after 35 years has generated significant excitement among fans.

"A championship parade is a symbol of victory in baseball," said manager Lee Beom-ho. "I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have this parade and believe it will be a memorable experience for both the players and the fans. I hope we can all enjoy this special moment together."

Finding the Perfect Vehicle

One of the most anticipated aspects of the parade is the vehicles that the players will be riding in. Organizing a fleet of open-top buses that could accommodate the entire team was no easy task. The city of Gwangju had to conduct an extensive search to find suitable vehicles.

After facing challenges in securing buses locally, the city eventually found the perfect vehicles in Seoul. These open-top buses will allow the players to have direct interaction with fans lining the streets.

A City United

The city of Gwangju has been buzzing with excitement since the KIA Tigers clinched the championship. Fans have been eagerly anticipating the parade, hoping to show their appreciation for the team's hard work and dedication. With the parade just around the corner, the city is ready to celebrate a historic victory.
