SEOUL, South Korea – April 30, 2025 – Lotte Department Store is set to ignite the heart of Seoul's bustling Myeongdong district with the launch of its "Lotte Town Myeongdong Art Festa." Starting today and running until May 29th, the area encompassing Euljiro 1-ga Station, the iconic Lotte Hotel Seoul Plaza, and the flagship Lotte Department Store Main Branch will be transformed into an immersive art experience, featuring captivating exhibitions and engaging interactive content.

This ambitious month-long event aims to inject a fresh wave of artistic energy into the popular shopping and tourism destination, offering both locals and international visitors a unique blend of art, culture, and retail therapy. A key highlight of the festival is the introduction of 'STEEZY,' a whimsical and eye-catching character specially designed for the Art Festa by renowned Australian artist Brolga. Known for his playful and vibrant artistic style, Brolga's creation promises to be a major draw, with larger-than-life STEEZY figures popping up throughout Lotte Town.

Visitors can expect to encounter STEEZY in various striking forms, including an impressive 8-meter-tall balloon sculpture that will dominate the landscape and a series of 5-meter-sized inflatable artworks suspended gracefully in the air. These playful installations will create a sense of wonder and provide fantastic photo opportunities for attendees as they explore the area.

Adding a more contemplative layer to the artistic showcase, Lotte's luxury Avenuel complex and the first four floors of the Main Branch will host an exhibition centered around the theme of "Urban Heat." This curated collection of artworks seeks to explore the multifaceted nature of city life, delving into the dynamic landscapes and the often-unseen emotions of the individuals who navigate them daily. To bring this vision to life, Lotte has appointed celebrated pixel artist Joo Jae-bum as the main exhibiting artist. Joo's distinctive style, characterized by intricate pixelated representations, will transform the entirety of Avenuel into a sprawling, contemporary art gallery, offering a fresh perspective on urban aesthetics.

In addition to the visual spectacle, the Lotte Town Myeongdong Art Festa thoughtfully coincides with South Korea's "Family Month" in May, a period traditionally dedicated to celebrating familial bonds and expressing gratitude through gift-giving. In line with this sentiment, special retail spaces within the department store will cater to those seeking meaningful presents.

On the Main Branch's first floor, "Ceci Ho Cosi," Lotte Department Store's own lifestyle curation brand, will present a pop-up shop running until May 17th. This boutique will offer a range of exclusive, limited-edition merchandise, including specially designed goods, trendy t-shirts, practical tumblers, and charming keyrings – all likely incorporating elements of the Art Festa's vibrant theme.

Food enthusiasts will also find delight in a dedicated F&B (Food & Beverage) gift pop-up store located on the Main Branch's first basement level, operating until May 15th. This gastronomic corner will feature collaborations with popular and innovative local food brands. Ice cream aficionados can indulge in unique flavors from "Gelateria Dodo," while those with a taste for traditional Korean sweets can explore the artisanal yakgwa (honey cookies) offered by "Golden Piece." Rounding out the culinary offerings, "Gachi Seoul" will present modern interpretations of classic Korean desserts, with all three brands showcasing special items created in partnership with the Art Festa.

Extending the festive atmosphere beyond the department store itself, Lotte Hotel and Lotte Duty Free will actively participate in the Art Festa by setting up dedicated booths in the Lotte Hotel Plaza. These spaces will host a variety of engaging events, further enhancing the overall experience for visitors and creating a seamless flow of art and activity throughout the Lotte Town Myeongdong area.

The "Lotte Town Myeongdong Art Festa" represents a significant initiative by Lotte Department Store to not only attract shoppers but also to cultivate a dynamic cultural environment in the heart of Seoul. By seamlessly integrating art exhibitions, interactive installations, and special retail offerings, the festival promises a memorable and enriching experience for everyone who visits during this vibrant month-long celebration. The fusion of Brolga's playful character, Joo Jae-bum's urban perspectives, and the collaborative spirit across Lotte's various entities underscores a commitment to creating a truly unique and engaging urban art spectacle.
