Los Angeles Philharmonic Unveils Gustavo Dudamel's Farewell Season

Los Angeles, CA – The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced its highly anticipated 2025/2026 season, marking the final chapter of Gustavo Dudamel's transformative tenure as its music and artistic director. Dudamel, who arrived in Los Angeles in 2009 at the age of 28, will depart the orchestra to assume the prestigious position of music and artistic director at the New York Philharmonic.   

Dudamel's farewell season promises a spectacular array of orchestral masterpieces, showcasing the artistic brilliance and collaborative spirit that have defined his leadership.

Highlights include:

Monumental Works: Dudamel will conduct iconic scores such as Strauss's "An Alpine Symphony," Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring," Mahler's Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection," and Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis," offering audiences a profound and moving musical experience.   

Featured Soloists and Guest Conductors: The season will feature a star-studded lineup of guest artists, including the return of acclaimed Spanish violinist María Dueñas. Adding to the excitement, Spanish violinist and conductor Roberto González-Monjas will make his highly anticipated debut with the LA Phil.
Celebrating Dudamel's Legacy: The season will serve as a celebration of Dudamel's remarkable impact on the LA Phil and the Los Angeles community. Since his arrival, he has expanded the orchestra's repertoire, fostered innovative educational programs like YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), and brought classical music to a wider audience.
