Seoul, South Korea – A recent poll conducted by MBC and Korea Research International has revealed a significant shift in public opinion regarding the impeachment of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol. According to the survey, a majority of South Koreans now support the impeachment of the president.

Conducted between July 27th and 28th, the poll of 1,004 adults found that 58% of respondents believe that the National Assembly should impeach the president, while 39% oppose such a move. This marks a significant increase in support for impeachment compared to a previous poll conducted on July 1st.

The survey also delved into public sentiment regarding various controversies surrounding the president, including his handling of the alleged attempted coup, his refusal to cooperate with the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), and his alleged involvement in inciting a riot at the Western District Court.

A majority of respondents expressed disapproval of the president's claim that the attempted coup was merely a warning to the opposition party and did not constitute grounds for impeachment. Similarly, a significant portion of the public criticized the president's refusal to cooperate with the CIO, deeming it an inappropriate response.

Furthermore, the survey found that a majority of respondents believe that the president is guilty of inciting a riot at the Western District Court and support a special investigation into the matter.

When asked about the future relationship between the ruling People Power Party and the president, a majority of respondents called for a separation between the party and the president.
