Daejeon, South Korea – With the aim of elevating its status as a premier tourist destination, Daejeon City has officially partnered with the Korea Tourism Association to ensure the resounding success of the upcoming ‘Daejeon Zero O’Clock Festival’ and to invigorate the broader tourism industry.

An official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on May 20th at the Daejeon City Hall reception room, solidifying a commitment between both organizations. This collaboration will focus on strengthening the competitiveness of the local tourism industry, with a particular emphasis on the '2025 Daejeon Zero O'Clock Festival,' slated for August.

The agreement establishes a close cooperative framework encompassing several key areas: the successful hosting of domestic and international events like the ‘Daejeon Zero O’Clock Festival,’ the joint discovery of innovative tourism policies, the organization of forums, and the active exchange of tourism-related information. A core objective of this partnership is to strategically collaborate on transforming the ‘Daejeon Zero O’Clock Festival’ into a globally recognized event, focusing on the qualitative growth and internationalization of regional festivals.

Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo expressed his optimism about the collaboration, stating, "When the expertise of the Korea Tourism Association meets the executive capabilities of Daejeon City, it will generate significant synergy, propelling Daejeon to become a top-tier tourist city." He further added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that not only the 'Daejeon Zero O'Clock Festival' but all of the city's tourism resources become a source of pride for our citizens."

The '2025 Daejeon Zero O'Clock Festival' is scheduled to run for nine days, from August 8th to 16th. The festival will primarily unfold along a 1-kilometer stretch from Daejeon Station to the former Chungnam Provincial Office, encompassing the Jungang-ro area and the surrounding old downtown commercial districts. The city plans to operate the festival as an urban-style event, incorporating traffic controls and linking commercial areas to create an enjoyable experience for both residents and visitors. This initiative aims to establish the festival as a signature summer event for the city, drawing both domestic and international attention to Daejeon's vibrant culture and attractions.
