ANDE and the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (MSPyBS) Strengthen Electrical Facility Safety in Hospitals and Health Centers Nationwide

ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay - Paraguay's National Electricity Administration (Administración Nacional de Electricidad, ANDE) and the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare (Ministerio de Salud Pública y Bienestar Social, MSPyBS) have announced a simultaneous, comprehensive inspection of the electrical systems in public hospitals and health centers across the country.

This inspection is a proactive measure to assess and improve the status of electrical facilities in health centers nationwide. The launch of the inspection was announced at the Barrio Obrero Hospital in Asunción, with the attendance of relevant authorities. Simultaneously, electrical system inspections are being carried out at medical institutions in various regions across the country.

Key inspection points include: ▲Power supply status ▲Adequacy of transformer capacity (whether it meets facility demand) ▲Internal electrical equipment inspection (including main and auxiliary distribution boards). The goal of this inspection is to enhance the safety and convenience of patients, guardians, and medical personnel.

ANDE will deploy approximately 50 specialized inspection teams to complete the inspection of the power supply status of facilities under the public health system within 30 days.

Background and Expected Effects

In recent years, concerns have been steadily raised regarding power supply instability and safety issues due to the aging electrical systems in public medical facilities. In particular, the malfunction of medical equipment or power outages during emergencies can pose a serious threat to patient safety.

This nationwide inspection aims to accurately identify the current status of electrical systems in each medical institution and improve outdated or substandard equipment, thereby ensuring the stability of power supply and preventing fire and electric shock accidents. Furthermore, securing sufficient transformer capacity is expected to guarantee the smooth operation of medical equipment and provide a safer and more comfortable medical environment for patients.

A representative from the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare stated, "Through this collaboration with ANDE, we will systematically inspect and improve the electrical systems of public medical facilities nationwide and do our best to ensure that both patients and medical staff can use and provide medical services in a safe environment."

An ANDE official added, "Based on the results of this inspection, we will prepare customized improvement plans for each facility and promptly carry out equipment replacement and maintenance work to contribute to the improvement of the quality of medical services."

This nationwide inspection of public hospital electrical systems is expected to be a significant step in enhancing the safety and reliability of Paraguay's public health system.
