The Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta revitalizes the local economy by extending the fall tourist season each year. What began in 1991 as a humble one-day event has grown into a major five-day festival, becoming a signature Santa Fe event that attracts over 4,500 visitors and involves 80 wineries and 65 restaurants.

According to a recent study, the economic impact of the festival is estimated at nearly $8 million, an increase of $1.5 million over six years ago. This figure includes visitor spending on lodging, dining, retail, and transportation, as well as the employment costs for the festival's operational staff. This demonstrates the wide-ranging ripple effect the festival has on the community. A festival representative emphasized, "The success of the festival is thanks to the high participation of local businesses, which is a unique strength that differentiates us from other regional events."

The festival satisfies visitors' senses with a variety of programs. The highlight is the 'Grand Tasting' on Saturday at Fort Marcy Park, but unique events like the 'Sky Railway Santa Fe Tour' have gained popularity in recent years. This year, in particular, the tour will be held under two themes: 'Sunset Sips' and 'Around the World by Rail.' Additionally, the 'Phenomenal Femmes Luncheon,' led by female wine experts, sommeliers, and chefs, is a popular event that sells out early every year.

An event that truly represents the festival's identity is 'Chile Friday.' Now in its fourth year, this event focuses on chile, a symbol of New Mexico, with 30 local restaurants showcasing traditional New Mexican cuisine. This event provides an excellent opportunity for out-of-town visitors to experience Santa Fe's unique culinary culture. The festival concludes on a relaxed note on the last day with the 'Rosé All Day' event, where attendees can enjoy rosé wines from around the world and light fare.

The Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta is more than just an entertainment event. The festival's proceeds are used for year-round wine education programs in the Santa Fe area, demonstrating its important role in giving back to the community. A festival representative stated, "The growth of our festival is due to the active participation and sense of community," and added that it will continue to grow together with the community in the future.
