Observing the Indonesian People

Today I met several people of Indonesian origin. An increasing number of Indonesian businesspeople are coming to Korea, and visitors are growing due to various events. With hundreds of thousands of tourists arriving annually, and judging by its economic growth rate, the number of Indonesian travelers to Korea seems likely to explode within the next 10 years. Koreans tend to look down on Indonesia. However, visiting the country in person leaves you speechless. It is a nation with infinite potential.

As the world's largest archipelago nation, Indonesia has everything. Every time I visit Indonesia, I receive a fresh shock. Having traveled extensively through Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, I used to compare and analyze the three nations. The largest country that had everything was called underdeveloped, while Singapore, which had nothing, became the top developed nation.

Recently, Indonesian people have been changing a lot. Even 20 years ago, Indonesia seemed to have no future, but these days I find myself envious. Indonesian affluent classes educate their children distinctively. They place great importance on foreign language education, travel, and social skills. Young people educated this way are increasingly starting businesses and engaging in commerce. I often look anew at Indonesia, which will soon become a great dragon of Asia.
