Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Malaysia Airlines has significantly expanded its presence in Oceania by introducing its state-of-the-art Airbus A330neo aircraft to Auckland, New Zealand. The airline now operates four weekly flights to Auckland, marking a milestone as the sole carrier utilizing this advanced aircraft type on routes to the Kiwi nation.

The inaugural A330-900neo flight, MH145, registered as 9M-MNG, departed Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 8:27 PM local time on March 11, and arrived at Auckland Airport at 11:23 AM the following day, completing a nine-hour, 56-minute journey.

This deployment underscores Malaysia Airlines' commitment to modernizing its fleet and enhancing passenger experience. The A330neo is distinguished by its 66% larger overhead compartments, providing passengers with ample luggage space. Additionally, the aircraft boasts a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared to previous-generation models, aligning with the airline's sustainability goals.

The A330neo offers a comfortable and spacious cabin configuration, accommodating 297 passengers. The layout includes 28 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring direct aisle access for all passengers. There are also 24 seats in Economy Extra Legroom and 245 seats in Economy Class.

In addition to Auckland, Malaysia Airlines currently operates the A330neo on daily flights to Melbourne and three weekly flights to Bali. The airline has taken delivery of two A330neo aircraft from a total order of twenty, with remaining deliveries facing delays due to engine manufacturing challenges.

Despite these delays, Malaysia Airlines remains focused on its fleet modernization strategy and continues to enhance its network with the advanced capabilities of the Airbus A330neo.
