NEW YORK, NY and BOSTON, MA – The unique character and rich heritage of Chilean Pisco took center stage during a recent and successful U.S. market tour, spearheaded by ProChile, the Chilean government's trade promotion agency, and Pisco Chile, the national association representing Chilean Pisco producers. Events held in New York City on April 1st and Boston on April 3rd provided industry leaders and cocktail aficionados with an exclusive opportunity to delve into the artistry of this distinguished spirit.
The New York engagement was hosted at Lulla NYC in collaboration with the United States Bartenders' Guild, while the Boston event took place at STK Steakhouse in partnership with The Cocktail Guru, a renowned group of cocktail experts. These meticulously curated experiences and demonstrations of expert mixology served to highlight the distinctive qualities of Chilean Pisco and its increasing influence on global cocktail trends.
Designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of Chilean Pisco's history – as the oldest protected designation of origin spirit in the Americas and the second oldest globally after Cognac – as well as its production techniques and versatility, the events featured a tasting showcase of eight prominent Chilean Pisco producers. These included Pisco Alto Atacama, Pisquera de Chile, Pisco K11, Pisco Bramador, Viña Siete Brujas, Pisco Bou Legado, Pisco Paitanás, and Jahir Saba Distillery. Participants also benefited from an introductory masterclass on Chilean Pisco and enjoyed a showcase of innovative Pisco cocktails crafted specifically for each venue.
Andrea Sapag, the Director of ProChile's New York office, commented on the tour's success: "There is a burgeoning interest in the U.S. market for premium, handcrafted spirits with a rich heritage, presenting a significant opportunity for Chilean Pisco. ProChile is dedicated to sharing the unique quality and tradition of Chilean Pisco with the global cocktail community. The enthusiastic reception we received during these events underscores the growing demand for our product, and we are pleased to have fostered new connections that will contribute to the continued expansion of Chilean Pisco in the American market."
As the global Pisco market anticipates substantial growth, particularly within North America, Chilean Pisco is increasingly being recognized as a versatile spirit capable of satisfying diverse palates and offering new frontiers for the art of mixology. Its distinct terroir, derived from specific grape varietals grown in designated regions of Chile, contributes to a range of flavor profiles that lend themselves well to both classic and contemporary cocktails.
The successful events in New York and Boston signal a rising tide of interest in Chilean Pisco and underscore its considerable potential for growth within the United States market. This tour serves as a significant step in establishing Chilean Pisco as a key player in the international spirits landscape.
