BUYEO — The 2026 Buyeo Mushroom Festival, celebrating Buyeo’s status as the nation's premier producer of button and shiitake mushrooms, wrapped up its successful three-day run on Sunday, November 1, at the Seodong Park West Gate Parking Lot area.

Held concurrently with the Buyeo Chrysanthemum Festival, this year's event offered visitors a unique opportunity to savor the rich flavors and aromas of fresh mushrooms amidst the brilliant fragrance of autumn chrysanthemums. Attendees enjoyed a vibrant seasonal atmosphere complemented by a diverse lineup of mushroom-themed interactive programs.

Launched in 2023, the festival has marked its 4th anniversary, solidifying its position as one of Buyeo’s signature autumn events. The festival drew enthusiastic responses from family visitors by providing engaging ways to taste, experience, and enjoy local agriculture. In particular, it served as an invaluable communication platform where local mushroom producers and consumers could directly interact, significantly boosting industry vitality and consumer demand.

As the nation’s leading production hub for both button and shiitake mushrooms, Buyeo County continues to reinforce the global competitiveness of its local agricultural sector.

Key Highlights of the Festival:

*Mushroom Exhibition Hall: Showcased various mushroom species and their diverse applications, deepening public awareness and appreciation.
*Direct Agricultural Market & Processed Goods: Allowed visitors to purchase high-quality, fresh Buyeo mushrooms and specialized processed items at reasonable, direct-from-farm prices.
*Tasting Booths: Generated immense popularity by offering a variety of creative culinary preparations highlighting the versatile flavors of local mushrooms.
*Family-Friendly Activities: Featured engaging events such as "Design Your Own Mushroom Hat" for children, photo booths, and roulette wheel games, accompanied by vibrant live performances from local artists.

Buyeo County Mayor Lee Yong-woo expressed his sincere gratitude, stating, "We deeply thank everyone who visited the Buyeo Mushroom Festival over the past three days. The success of this event is a testament to the warm support of our visitors, alongside the dedicated efforts of our organizers and volunteers."

He added, "We hope this festival brought renewed hope and vitality to our local mushroom farming households, who face challenges from climate change and rising agricultural imports. Moving forward, we will proudly uphold our reputation as the nation’s top mushroom producer, continuously promoting the excellence of Buyeo mushrooms nationwide while expanding avenues for direct producer-consumer engagement."

Following the successful conclusion, Buyeo County plans to conduct a comprehensive performance analysis to make next year's event even more robust, while actively pursuing diverse support policies aimed at increasing farm incomes and stimulating the local economy.
