Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – Cainiao Smart Logistics Network, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, has significantly bolstered Vietnam's rapidly expanding e-commerce sector with the delivery of its largest automated sorting center in southern Vietnam. The state-of-the-art facility has been commissioned by one of the nation's leading courier companies, marking a crucial step in upgrading the country's logistics infrastructure.

Designed and developed entirely in-house by Cainiao, the new sorting hub integrates a suite of cutting-edge smart logistics technologies. These include automated parcel separation systems, multi-layer cross-belt sorters, and intelligent sorting robots. Leveraging the power of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced digital solutions, the center is engineered to efficiently process bulk shipments, handling parcels of all shapes and sizes with remarkable precision. The system boasts real-time tracking capabilities and an impressive accuracy rate exceeding 99%, promising a significant improvement in delivery efficiency and reliability.

Despite facing considerable logistical hurdles, including delays caused by typhoons impacting shipping schedules, Cainiao's dedicated team successfully completed the delivery and deployment of the complex project in a mere 100 days. This achievement represents a remarkable 30% reduction compared to typical project timelines for similar facilities, highlighting Cainiao's expertise and commitment to rapid deployment.

"China's massive e-commerce ecosystem has fostered the development of some of the world's most advanced logistics technologies," stated Jeff Lyu, the Cainiao Project Lead for this initiative. "Unlike traditional automation providers, Cainiao operates as a global logistics leader itself. Our automation solutions are born from real-world operational demands, making them exceptionally practical and efficient for enhancing sorting capabilities and ultimately elevating the customer experience in Vietnam."

Vietnam's e-commerce market is experiencing explosive growth, positioning it as one of the most dynamic in Southeast Asia. This surge is fueled by increasing internet penetration, a rapidly growing digital-savvy consumer base, and the expansion of cross-border trade. As online shopping continues its upward trajectory, logistics providers are facing mounting pressure to provide faster, more scalable, and cost-effective fulfillment solutions to meet evolving consumer expectations.

Southeast Asia represents a key strategic market for Cainiao's logistics technology. The company has been actively deploying a range of advanced solutions, including warehouse automation, sophisticated sorting systems, and digital logistics platforms, across the region in countries such as Thailand and Singapore. To further enhance its on-the-ground execution and support its growing footprint, Cainiao has established a dedicated APAC logistics technology team.

"At Cainiao, we firmly believe that innovation and technology form the bedrock of efficient logistics and are the key enablers of sustainable e-commerce growth," added Lyu. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering leading-edge solutions that empower global businesses to scale their operations efficiently and maintain a competitive edge in the market."

Cainiao has established a strong global track record in delivering transformative logistics technology. In South America, the company developed the region's first national hybrid sorting center for a leading cross-border e-commerce logistics provider, achieving a processing capacity of 50,000 parcels per hour. In North America, its AI-powered supply chain solutions enabled a major Mexican telecom operator to improve sales forecasting accuracy by 20% and triple its operational efficiency. Furthermore, in Western Europe, Cainiao introduced RFID-enabled cross-border tracking for a global logistics provider, resulting in a significant 87% reduction in scanning costs. To date, Cainiao has successfully implemented over 600 automation and digitalization projects across 28 countries, demonstrating its global expertise and impact on the logistics landscape.

This latest deployment in Vietnam underscores Cainiao's commitment to supporting the growth of e-commerce globally by providing intelligent and efficient logistics solutions. The new automated sorting center is poised to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of its local partner, contributing to faster delivery times, improved accuracy, and a more seamless e-commerce experience for Vietnamese consumers.
