The government is set to impose anti-dumping duties of up to 33.67% on Chinese zinc and zinc-alloy surface-treated cold-rolled steel products (galvanized cold-rolled steel).
The Trade Commission under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced on the 23rd that it reviewed and resolved two final anti-dumping investigation rulings, including the one concerning galvanized cold-rolled steel, during its 478th meeting.
The commission determined that the domestic industry suffered damages due to the dumping of Chinese galvanized cold-rolled steel.
Consequently, it decided to recommend to the Minister of Economy and Finance that a price undertaking be implemented for Chinese exporters and anti-dumping duties ranging from 22.34% to 33.67% be levied for the next five years.
A price undertaking is a system where exporters of dumped goods voluntarily raise their export prices to eliminate the domestic industrial injury caused by dumping.
Additionally, the commission decided to extend the imposition of a 10.32% anti-dumping duty for five years on all suppliers of Chinese offset printing plates—flat-shaped photographic plates used for printing plate making.
This decision was made based on the judgment that the termination of the existing anti-dumping measures, in effect since May 2021, would likely lead to a recurrence of dumping and domestic industrial injury.
Furthermore, the commission received a report on the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation into Chinese seamless steel pipes. The final ruling for this investigation is scheduled to be handed down around July of next year.
