Ulsan, South Korea – Ulsan Metropolitan City announced on June 16 that it has selected 11 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to participate in a comprehensive brand design and packaging development project. This initiative aims to enhance the market competitiveness and self-sufficiency of local businesses, aligning with Ulsan's broader efforts to foster a robust regional economy.

The selected companies, representing a diverse range of local products and services, include Byeongyeong Sesame Oil, Tea House Downjae, Dream Honey, Beer Port Broy, Ulsan Takju Taehwaru, J-One Bola O, Bibi Food, Second Closet, Dongbang Honey, Eonyang Traditional Food, and Woesikmyungga Samsanjeong. These businesses will receive approximately three months of dedicated support from professional design firms to develop distinctive packaging designs and refine their overall brand imagery.

Ulsan City's commitment to nurturing its SMEs extends beyond design. Following the completion of the packaging development phase, two outstanding companies will be chosen for a crowdfunding linkage support program in the second half of the year. This financial backing is expected to provide a vital boost, enabling these enterprises to secure further investment and expand their market reach.

A city official emphasized the strategic importance of this undertaking, stating, "This project is anticipated to make a practical contribution to securing the self-reliance of local SMEs through a full-cycle support system, from brand strategy and product design to marketing." The initiative reflects Ulsan's ongoing dedication to creating a supportive ecosystem for its businesses, integrating design innovation with strategic market entry.

Ulsan has a history of supporting its SME sector, including partnerships with institutions like the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP) and Ulsan Techno Park. These collaborations aim to bolster design competitiveness, promote technological innovation, and provide various forms of financial and commercialization assistance. The current branding and packaging development project is a testament to Ulsan City's proactive approach in empowering its local enterprises to thrive in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
