The Chilean national football team, which recently rekindled its hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup by earning 4 points in two games, is once again embarking on a challenge. Last November, Chile reaffirmed its potential for World Cup playoff qualification through a draw with Peru and a victory against Venezuela.

Led by coach Ricardo Gareca, the Chilean national team must secure a spot in the World Cup finals through the remaining 6 games in 2025. The first hurdle is the away match against Paraguay. This match will be held in Asuncion, where they will face the recently surging Paraguay.

Revived under the guidance of coach Gustavo Alfaro, Paraguay is currently aiming for a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup finals with 17 points. On the other hand, Chile is struggling in 9th place out of 10 countries with 9 points, trailing the playoff qualification spot by 4 points. If they lose this match, Chile's chances of qualifying for the World Cup become even slimmer.

Challenges for the Chilean National Team:

Stabilizing Defense: Chile has recently exposed defensive vulnerabilities. They need to strengthen their defensive organization to block Paraguay's sharp attacks.
Improving Offensive Efficiency: Chile is struggling due to a lack of decisiveness in the attack. They need to diversify their offensive tactics to penetrate Paraguay's solid defense.
Dominating the Midfield: They must gain an advantage in the battle against Paraguay's strong midfield. Securing dominance in the midfield can sway the entire flow of the game.

Strengths of the Paraguayan National Team:

Solid Defense: Paraguay excels at minimizing goals conceded with their organized defense. Chile must patiently break through Paraguay's defensive wall.
Counter-Attack Ability: Paraguay is skilled at creating scoring opportunities with quick counter-attacks. Chile must prepare for counter-attacks during defense.
Home Advantage: The passionate support in Asuncion will be a great source of strength for the Paraguayan players. Chile must overcome the difficulties of an away game.

Match Information:

Match Date: March 20th, Thursday, 20:00
Match Location: Asuncion, Paraguay
Broadcast Information: CHV, Disney+, ADN Deportes, ADN.cl
