Naver Pay's Overseas QR Payment Surges 7.7 Times in 2024

Seoul, South Korea – Naver Pay, South Korea's leading mobile payment service, announced today that its overseas QR payment service experienced a remarkable 7.7-fold growth in transaction volume last year.

The company attributed this significant surge to a series of aggressive promotions and the expansion of its global partnership network. In 2024, Naver Pay launched a total of 67 promotional campaigns, with the most popular one offering a 50% discount at Japanese convenience stores. This particular promotion led to a 12-fold increase in new Japanese users in July alone.

Naver Pay's overseas QR payment infrastructure also expanded significantly last year. In addition to existing partnerships with UnionPay and Alipay+, the company added GLN International and WeChat Pay, solidifying its position as the domestic mobile payment service with the most global payment partnerships. The service is now available in 66 countries and regions, with Japan, China, and Thailand being the most popular destinations.

"Naver Pay is the only domestic payment service that supports payments at all three major Chinese payment service providers," said a Naver Pay official. "We have been working hard to provide convenient and secure payment infrastructure overseas. We plan to offer various promotions at popular overseas merchants this year as well."
