SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (SMOE) has unveiled its plan to hire 371 educational public service personnel on permanent contracts for the 2025 academic year, marking a significant opportunity for individuals seeking stable and meaningful careers in the education sector. The recruitment drive spans nine diverse roles, reflecting the multifaceted needs of Seoul's educational institutions. The positions being offered include:
Education Assistants [Integrated]: 108 positions, with 4 specifically designated for candidates with disabilities, emphasizing the SMOE's commitment to inclusive hiring practices. These assistants provide crucial support to teachers and students in various educational activities.
Special Education Assistants: 84 positions dedicated to supporting students with special educational needs, highlighting the importance placed on inclusive education within Seoul's schools.
Caregivers (Full-time & Part-time): 77 positions to provide essential care and supervision for students, ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Librarians: 31 positions to manage school libraries, promote literacy, and support students' research and learning.
Special Edu-care Instructors: 31 positions focusing on specialized educational and care programs for students requiring additional support.
Education Assistants [Neulbom (After-School Program)]: 26 positions to support the newly expanded "Neulbom" after-school care program, a key initiative to provide comprehensive care and enrichment activities for students beyond regular school hours.
Kindergarten Education Assistants: 10 positions dedicated to supporting the educational activities and care of young learners in kindergartens.
Community Education Specialists: 4 positions focused on fostering partnerships between schools and the local community, promoting lifelong learning opportunities.
Notably, the SMOE will conduct a separate rolling recruitment process for Cook Assistants, indicating an ongoing need for personnel in this essential area.
The online application portal, accessible through the 'Online Staff Recruitment System' on the SMOE website, will be open for submissions from 9:00 AM on Tuesday, April 9th, to 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 11th. Prospective candidates are strongly encouraged to review the detailed eligibility criteria and required documentation available on the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's official website prior to applying.
The selection process will involve a rigorous two-stage evaluation. Successful candidates from the initial document screening will be announced on May 16th. These individuals will then proceed to the interview stage, scheduled for May 31st. The final list of successful applicants is expected to be released on June 18th.
Successful candidates will be appointed to public schools under the jurisdiction of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, with the commencement dates of employment set for either September 1, 2025, or March 1, 2026, depending on the specific needs of the schools. Following a standard three-month probationary period to ensure suitability for the role, these individuals will transition to permanent contract status, guaranteeing job security until the mandatory retirement age of 60.
