Seoul, South Korea – The Seoul High Prosecutors' Office has reopened the investigation into Kim Keon-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, concerning her alleged involvement in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case. This decision follows the Supreme Court's recent confirmation of guilty verdicts against accomplices in the same case, prompting prosecutors to re-examine potential changes in their testimonies.   

Kim Keon-hee is accused of utilizing three personal accounts to participate in market manipulation orchestrated by former Deutsche Motors Chairman Kwon Oh-soo between 2010 and 2012. Despite initial clearance by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, the recent Supreme Court ruling has necessitated a reinvestigation, focusing on whether Kim knowingly aided and abetted the manipulation.

Key evidence includes phone recordings indicating Kim's direct involvement in stock transactions, with instances of her placing sell orders moments after receiving instructions from the 'main operator.' These recordings suggest a potential awareness and participation in the orchestrated trading activities.

The prosecutors are also focusing on the relationship between Kim and the stock manipulation group. The established contact network, which notably excluded Kim, raises questions about her potential involvement, given her close ties to former Chairman Kwon. The prosecution aims to clarify her role and communication with the group, particularly after revelations that the 'main operator' referred to her as 'family.'

Legal experts suggest that the reinvestigation should focus on re-examining existing evidence and conducting targeted interviews with witnesses, rather than extensive new investigations. The outcome of this reinvestigation could significantly impact Kim Keon-hee's legal standing and public perception.
