Gangwon State and the Gangwon Tourism Organization announced that they have selected the "2026 Gangneung ITS World Congress" as October's "Special Recommended Travel Destination," introducing special travel content that allows visitors to enjoy both an international event and Gangneung's tourism.

Held from October 19 to 23 at the Gangneung Olympic Park area, the 32nd ITS World Congress is the world's largest international event for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), drawing participants from approximately 90 countries. The event features a diverse program including academic conferences, international exhibitions, and demonstrations and site visits of cutting-edge transportation technologies.

In particular, a variety of cultural and subsidiary events—such as ice shows and drone shows—will take place during the event period, allowing visitors to simultaneously experience the spectacles of an international event and Gangneung's cultural tourism.

During the Gangneung ITS World Congress, the Gangwon Tourism Organization plans to operate a joint promotional booth with various organizations and deploy a "Gangwon Visit Year" mobile promotional vehicle to provide visitors with enjoyment through diverse events.

Choi Sung-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, "In October, we hope you experience a special journey where you can meet world-class Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technology alongside Gangneung's tourism and culture." He added, "We will actively promote the event so that visitors coming to Gangneung for this international conference can fully enjoy the local tourist attractions and contents throughout the region."
