MANILA – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that approximately 10 companies involved in the manufacture, distribution, and sale of vape products have registered with the agency. This follows the DTI's June 5th directive mandating the certification and registration of vape products and the enforcement of product standards beginning January 2025.

Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque stated that these accredited companies have met the standards set by the Office for the Special Mandate on Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products, their Devices, and Novel Tobacco Products (OSMV).

"For the DTI, our primary goal is to ensure compliance and registration," Secretary Roque emphasized. "This will guarantee that these vape products adhere to the established standards."

The majority of registered vape products are currently imported, according to the Secretary.

Under Republic Act 11900, also known as the Vape Law, manufacturers and importers of Heated Tobacco Products (HTP) consumables, HTP devices, vapor product refills, vapor product devices, and novel tobacco products are required to register with the DTI. This registration process aims to ensure product compliance with government standards.
