President Lee Jae-myung, who has embarked on a tour of the United States and Mexico, arrived in New York on the 21st (local time) where the UN General Assembly is taking place.

President Lee is scheduled to unveil a blueprint for peaceful coexistence on the Korean Peninsula through his keynote speech at the UN General Assembly the following day. Last year at the UN General Assembly, President Lee introduced the "END Initiative"—which stands for Exchange, Normalization, and Denuclearization—as a comprehensive methodology for resolving issues on the Korean Peninsula.

Another point of intense interest is whether President Lee will meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. Wi Sung-lac, Director of the National Security Office, stated, "There are plans for various forms of separate contacts with leaders of major countries, including the United States and Australia," adding, "Through this, we intend to continue close summit-level exchanges and discuss cooperative measures to expand our national interests."

If the meeting takes place, discussions are expected to cover U.S. investment negotiations, the deployment of troops to the Strait of Hormuz, and issues related to North Korea-U.S. dialogue.

On the 23rd (local time), President Lee will attend the "Korea Investment Summit 2026," a gathering of economic and financial figures from South Korea and the United States, to promote South Korea's artificial intelligence (AI) policies and vision, as well as capital market reforms, to global investors.
