HANOI — Hanoi Metro has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with key players in Vietnam's green transport sector to create a comprehensive, all-electric public transit model. The agreement, signed on February 19th, will integrate various electric transportation options for a seamless passenger experience.

Hanoi Metro will collaborate with Xanh SM (electric taxi and motorbike hailing), VinBus (electric bus service), FGF (electric vehicle rental), and V-Green (charging infrastructure provider). The partnership aims to establish a door-to-door transportation system connecting electric metro lines with electric taxis, motorbikes, and buses.

A key feature of the initiative will be the integration of Hanoi Metro’s ticketing system with Xanh SM’s ride-hailing services within the VinBus platform. This will allow passengers to plan and book entire journeys using a single mobile application. Designated Xanh SM pick-up and drop-off zones will also be established at busy metro stations to further enhance connectivity.

To incentivize the adoption of green transport, the collaborating companies will launch a joint promotional campaign offering discounted fares for passengers utilizing multiple electric services. Furthermore, Hanoi Metro will partner with FGF to explore the implementation of electric vehicle rental stations at metro locations. The collaboration with V-Green will focus on expanding the city’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure to support the growing electric fleet.

Khuất Việt Hùng, Chairman of Hanoi Metro, emphasized the significance of the partnership as a crucial step towards developing a sustainable and energy-efficient transportation ecosystem. The initiative underscores the commitment to reducing emissions and supporting Hanoi's transition to a greener and more sustainable future.
