LAS VEGAS - Amazon’s autonomous driving subsidiary, Zoox, is actively seeking to integrate South Korean automotive electronics and components into its next-generation robotaxi fleet. The move signals a strategic push to solidify its supply chain as competition with Google’s Waymo and Tesla’s Cybercab intensifies.

According to industry sources on January 25, Zoox will host 'K-Mobility SuperConnect 2026' in Silicon Valley this coming April. The event will invite 30 selected South Korean firms to discuss technical cooperation and procurement for essential robotaxi components.

Key Areas of Interest Zoox is reportedly focusing on high-tech solutions where South Korean manufacturers hold a competitive edge, specifically:

V2X-based Telematics Modules: Enabling seamless communication between vehicles and infrastructure.
Advanced HVAC Systems: Specialized heating, ventilation, and air conditioning tailored for passenger-centric autonomous pods.
Autonomous Driving Collaboration: Joint R&D for sensor integration and vehicle control systems.

Strategic Context The timing of this "love call" is critical. Zoox recently launched its fully driverless service—featuring vehicles without steering wheels or pedals—and established a dedicated manufacturing facility in California. By partnering with Korean suppliers, Zoox aims to ensure a stable, high-quality hardware pipeline to support its expansion across major U.S. cities.

"Zoox is looking to select about 30 Korean partners and is strongly pushing for joint technology development," said an industry official familiar with the matter. "This represents a significant opportunity for Korean firms to lead in the global autonomous vehicle hardware market."
