Large Cruise Ship Makes Unexpected Stop at Mar del Plata Coast for Medical Emergency

Mar del Plata, Argentina – A large cruise ship, the MS Oosterdam, made an unexpected stop off the coast of Mar del Plata on Saturday morning after an American passenger experienced a medical emergency. The ship, operated by Holland America Line, a division of Carnival Corporation, had departed from Montevideo, Uruguay, and was en route to Port Argentine in the Falkland Islands when the incident occurred.

The Oosterdam, a vessel of impressive dimensions, measuring 290 meters in length and 32.25 meters in beam, with a capacity to carry over 1,800 passengers and a crew of more than 800, anchored near the entrance to the Port of Mar del Plata. The central hub of the ship is a three-story atrium adorned with a Waterford crystal globe.

Passengers aboard the Oosterdam can enjoy a variety of recreational facilities, including two swimming pools, one with a retractable dome, a sports promenade, and a golf simulator. The ship also boasts advanced waste management systems, including multi-chamber shredders, compactors, and presses.
