KILIMANJARO, Tanzania – The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) in the Kilimanjaro Region has revealed significant revenue losses in Siha District due to water users accessing services without proper metering. Kilimanjaro Regional PCCB Head, Mr. Musa Chaulo, presented the findings in the institution's performance report for October to December 2024.

Investigations into reported fraud uncovered that some users received water services without payment due to missing water meters, while others with meters were not included in the billing system. Specifically, 63 customers were identified as receiving water without being billed.

Following the PCCB's intervention, these users have been brought into the payment system. As of December 23, 2024, a total of 3.6 million Tanzanian shillings had been deposited into the Magadini Mwakiwaru-Siha Water Board's account.

Mr. Chaulo stated that employees responsible for these irregularities have been suspended pending further investigation. He credited the successful operation to public cooperation with the PCCB.
