– Field-oriented education centered on behavioral correction to alleviate conflicts between pet owners and non-pet owners

Gangwon State (Governor Woo Sang-ho, hereinafter referred to as the "State") announced that it is actively operating the Q4 education session for the newly launched "Pet Citizens' School" this year to expand participation opportunities for pet owners and citizens. The initiative aims to alleviate difficulties and social conflicts in the process of raising companion animals and to spread a mature companion culture.

The "Pet Citizens' School" is a program designed to spread a proper rearing culture by improving problem behaviors in companion animals. It focuses on ▲ behavioral correction academies, and ▲ safety accident prevention and pet etiquette ("petiquette") education.

In particular, the behavioral correction academy provides customized education by professional trainers regarding problem behaviors such as aggression and separation anxiety. It also runs concurrent on-site visiting education, where trainers directly inspect and guide the living environment at the location where problem behaviors occur when necessary. The number of education sessions per participant has been expanded from a maximum of 3 to up to 6 to enhance educational effectiveness.

Park Yu-jin, head of the State's Animal Quarantine Division, stated, "We hope for active participation from dog owners and others in the 'Pet Citizens' School,' which is establishing itself as a field-oriented education that goes beyond simple theoretical learning to solve problems citizens actually experience in their daily pet-raising lives." She added, "We will continue to expand behavioral correction and petiquette education to build a mature companion culture where pet owners and non-pet owners can consider one another and live together harmoniously."
