Daejeon City held the '53rd Public Health Day Commemoration Ceremony' on April 7th at 1 PM on the 3rd floor of Daejeon City Hall, marking Public Health Day.
Under the theme '30 Years of Health Footprints, a Leap Towards a Healthy Future,' the event featured various programs including commendations for individuals who contributed to public health, expert lectures, and health promotion booths, receiving great response from citizens.
At the ceremony, 17 individuals (14 citizens, 3 public officials) who contributed to the development of local public health and the promotion of citizens' health were awarded citations from the Mayor of Daejeon, expressing gratitude for their dedication and hard work.
In addition, ten related organizations in various fields such as mental health, smoking cessation, blood donation, and dementia participated, operating health counseling and experience programs, providing citizens with useful information and opportunities to practice healthy habits in their daily lives.
In particular, a special lecture by Dr. Lee Cook-jong, Director of the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital, on the theme of 'Scientist in action' shared vivid cases from the trauma center and in-depth insights into the reality and challenges of the domestic severe trauma system and the direction of emergency medical system improvement, drawing great interest and empathy from the attendees.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo stated, "I hope this commemorative event will serve as a valuable opportunity for citizens to once again recognize the importance of health. Daejeon City will continue to build a comprehensive health care system that covers the entire life cycle and create a healthy city and sustainable Daejeon where all citizens can live with peace of mind."
