Daejeon City is holding a citizen proposal contest for the 2026 resident participation budget from April 7th to May 26th, 2025.
Not only Daejeon citizens but also employees of businesses located in Daejeon, members of non-profit organizations, and school students can participate in the contest, providing an opportunity for citizens to participate in city administration by directly proposing projects.
The total project scale is 5 billion KRW, the same as last year, and proposals targeting the resolution of metropolitan city issues or citizen convenience projects spanning two or more autonomous districts are eligible for submission.
The possible areas for proposals are broadly open to reflect citizens' interests and ideas across all areas of city administration, including economy, jobs, community, youth, women, welfare, culture and tourism, sports, environment, transportation, housing, urban regeneration, safety, and administration.
Applications can be submitted through the Daejeon Metropolitan City Resident Participation Budget website, as well as via email, fax, mail, or in-person visits.
Submitted proposals will undergo departmental review and evaluation, citizen voting, and a citizen assembly before final selection. Selected projects will be reflected in the 2026 budget proposal after approval by the Daejeon City Council.
