Following Saudi Arabia, Samsung C&T's Engineering & Construction Group is accelerating its global business expansion by bidding on a subway construction project in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.

The Buenos Aires Ministry of Infrastructure recently issued an official tender for the construction of the F line subway. More than 30 companies, including Samsung C&T, have submitted letters of intent to participate in the bid. The final company awarded the contract will be selected after a technical evaluation that could take up to six months.

The new F line will be 8 km long and is a large-scale project that will add 13 new stations to the existing subway system. The line will pass through densely populated areas, including Constitución, San Telmo, Monserrat, Recoleta, and Palermo, connecting Constitución to Plaza Italia. The project is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Buenos Aires upon its completion.

Samsung C&T has already proven its technical and construction capabilities by successfully leading a subway construction project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Last December, the Riyadh Metro's Lines 4, 5, and 6, constructed by a consortium including Samsung C&T and the Spanish construction company FCC, began operation, drawing global attention. This experience and track record are expected to positively influence the company's bid for the Argentine project.

The entry into the Argentine subway project is seen as part of Samsung C&T's strategy to expand its presence in the overseas infrastructure market and pioneer new markets. The company's expansion of overseas business will not only secure new construction projects but also serve as an opportunity to promote the excellence of Korean construction technology worldwide.

A Samsung C&T official stated, "We are focusing on diversifying our global business portfolio and securing new growth engines," and "We will leverage our accumulated expertise and technology to achieve a successful outcome in this Argentine project as well."

Meanwhile, the Buenos Aires F line subway project is considered a key infrastructure project for the city's sustainable development, and the bidding competition is expected to be even more intense.
