Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – Tanzania and Japan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and supporting various development programs during a farewell visit by Japanese Ambassador Yasushi Misawa to Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Commissioner General Yusuph Mwenda.

Ambassador Misawa emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in business and investment, stating, "We will maintain and enhance our partnership, working closely with TRA to boost economic ties." He commended TRA's successful tax collection strategies, acknowledging their crucial role in attracting foreign investment to Tanzania.

"Your achievements are vital for creating a favorable environment for foreign investors," he noted, highlighting the significance of effective tax administration.

Commissioner General Mwenda expressed gratitude for Japan's continued support and expressed his vision for further cooperation. "We look forward to exchanging best practices, especially in tax administration, to enhance our efficiency," he stated.

Ambassador Misawa proposed a formal exchange program where TRA officials could visit Japan to learn about its tax systems. "This collaboration will strengthen our ties and promote mutual growth," he added.

Both leaders concluded the meeting with renewed optimism for the future, agreeing to prioritize ongoing collaboration and lay the groundwork for a strong partnership that promises prosperity for both nations.
