Leaping to a 4-Flute Orchestra! Recruiting Talented Musicians to Lead Korea's Representative Orchestra

The Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrating its 41st anniversary, is preparing for a powerful leap to become a top-tier orchestra in South Korea. They are publicly recruiting professional musicians with artistic talent and passion.

Through this expansion, the Daejeon Philharmonic aims to enlarge its scale from the existing 3-flute to a 4-flute orchestra, intending to communicate with audiences through richer and more three-dimensional sound. This is expected to not only elevate the orchestra's artistic capabilities but also serve as a significant milestone in establishing itself as one of the nation's top orchestras.

The public recruitment covers a wide range of positions, including a full-time conductor, principal members (2nd Violin, Double Bass, Horn, Trumpet, Timpani), associate principal members (2nd Violin, Viola, Cello, Trombone), and permanent members (1st Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Percussion).

Particularly, the woodwind and brass sections are central to the transition to a 4-flute orchestra, and the string sections will also be significantly reinforced to maintain the overall musical balance of the orchestra.

Applications can be submitted from Wednesday, June 18th, until 6 PM on Thursday, June 19th. Submissions can be made by visiting the Culture and Arts Division at Daejeon City Hall or via registered mail. For postal submissions, applications must arrive by the closing date.

Detailed recruitment announcements and application forms can be found on the Daejeon Metropolitan City website (www.daejeon.go.kr) and the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra website (www.dpo.or.kr). For other inquiries, please contact the Orchestra office at (☎042-270-8382~8).
