ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay - In 2025, Paraguay will host the 'Global Gateway Forum,' a large-scale international event aimed at promoting sustainable development and foreign direct investment.

The event will focus on three key areas: sustainable forest management, renewable energy and green hydrogen, and sustainable logistics and clean transportation. Furthermore, digital services and sustainable finance will be addressed as common themes across all sector discussions, with practical solutions explored through specific case studies.

The forum will feature a diverse program including high-level keynote speeches, panel discussions, presentations of investment projects, site visits, and exhibition spaces. In particular, it plans to support connections between projects and investors through on-site and online matchmaking, providing opportunities for practical collaboration.

Through this, Paraguay aims to showcase its potential as an attractive destination for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the global gateway sector to the world.

The event aims to encourage public-private cooperation between the European Union (EU) and Paraguay and to promote the Global Gateway investment agenda. Simultaneously, it is expected to serve as an opportunity to strengthen trade relations between companies from Paraguay and EU countries by leveraging the benefits of the MERCOSUR (Southern Common Market) agreement.

Based on its abundant natural resources and strategic location, Paraguay seeks sustainable economic growth and aims to explore opportunities to further expand cooperation with the international community through this forum.

Experts anticipate that this forum will play a crucial role in accelerating Paraguay's green economic transition, particularly in attracting innovative projects in the renewable energy and green hydrogen sectors.

In addition, improvements in sustainable logistics and clean transportation infrastructure are expected to contribute to strengthening Paraguay's position as a regional hub. Digitalization and sustainable finance are key elements supporting these changes, and specific success stories will provide practical inspiration to participants.

A Paraguayan government official stated, "This forum will be an important stepping stone for Paraguay to realize its vision for a sustainable future," and added, "We will create opportunities to generate both economic and environmental benefits through cooperation with international partners, including the EU." As of the end of March 2025, preparations for the event are in full swing, and significant interest from investors and businesses worldwide is anticipated.
